POLICIES

We aim to make every wedding special. Here are the policies and procedures that you agree to when you purchase a wedding package with this site:

The officiant needs to meet with you as a couple, prior to the wedding, to plan the ceremony appropriately, and to collect information that is needed for the completion of forms that are mailed to the government, and kept in the officiant’s personal record of marriages.

You are required to have either a marriage licence or a banns form in Ontario: marriage licences can be purchased by you at your own expense from the city or town hall of your choice (necessary if either of you is a divorcee or if both of you do not attend a church or a religious worship centre with regularity, or it can simply be purchased for your convenience). Marriage by licence requires a verbal question to guests attending if there are "legal reasons why these two may not be joined." If you do attend a church or religious worship centre with regularity (whether together or at separate churches or worship centres), a free banns form is available, requiring a statement to be published in the bulletin/order of service of both parties' churches/religious worship centres, to allow for legal objections to be made to your proposed ceremony. With a banns form and publication of intent to marry, no question needs to be asked of guests at the ceremony. Requirements for licences and the marriage process may be different in other provinces, states or countries.

The final purchasing of a time slot on the availability calendar is subject to administrative approval—it is possible that more than one person may be purchasing that time slot at the same time, based on how long one's cart is open. If more than one person has purchased that time, the person with the earlier time stamp on the purchase will be the person who secures the time slot. Any subsequent purchases will be held as a credit, and the unsuccessful purchaser will be contacted with the option of either receiving the value applied to another date or time on the availability calendar, or a refund if no other time or date is suitable for the couple. It will be refunded using the same method of payment that the original purchase was made, less any administrative charges from the payment gateway.

If you have purchased a wedding package, but the officiant is unable to perform the wedding due to illness, or cannot perform the ceremony due to ethical/moral/legal/spiritual issues, you will be directed to another equally qualified minister or officiant who can step in and do the wedding, or a full refund will be offered as an alternative, at your discretion and decision, less any administrative charges from the payment gateway.

Other than the exceptions above, all purchases are final sale on this site. It is unfair to others who would have booked that time slot, to cancel after you have booked a particular time and day, and unfair to the officiant who will have invested varying levels of expense for payment gateway charges, travel, time, preliminary intake meetings, and potential loss of income from other sources. Sales include time slots for weddings, rehearsal times, gift certificates, or other add-ons. Choosing to break off an engagement does not qualify you for a refund. A date may be changed by choosing to pay for an add-on in the cart. If you choose not to go ahead with your wedding after you have paid on the site, a credit can be held, and you may use it toward a wedding in the future for yourself or someone else as a gift. You may also use the credit on other businesses owned by the feversham.ca site that are linked to the shopping cart (not for use toward mentions, links, or other community people, businesses or resources that are mentioned as a tip-of-the-hat to supporting local).

When you choose your wedding time slot, keep in mind that it must include the officiant’s travel time to your wedding location within both ends of the time slot inclusive, and must not interfere with another block of time that might be booked by another couple on the availability chart. If you need the officiant for a longer time than the time slot you have purchased for your ceremony, or the travel time overlaps into another time slot because the wedding is more than two hours in one direction from Feversham, ON, you may choose to book an additional time slot—discounts may be available depending on the day. Special arrangements must be confirmed via a confirmation email from feversham.ca@gmail.com that clearly define any variations to normal policies.

If the date you select is a Statutory, Banking, Civic or Religious Holiday in Canada (or the region where you choose to be married), such as but not limited to Canada Day, Christmas Eve or Day, New Year’s Eve or Day, Good Friday, Easter Long Weekend, Thanksgiving Long Weekend, Valentine’s Day, etc., a surcharge of $499 will need to be paid in order to complete the booking, and if it is not paid at the time of purchasing your Simple, Standard or Premium Wedding Package and time slot, an email will be sent to remind you to purchase this add-on in order to secure the time and date. Without this add-on, a booking on days such as these will not be completed nor booked, and will remain in the pending status.

If you have any questions about any of these policies, or require a variation to our policies, please send an email to feversham.ca@gmail.com with your requests for variations to our policies, but be aware that they are just that… requests, not guaranteed changes… and we will consider them and send an email back with clarification on any requests or special arrangements.

Thanks for choosing a wedding officiant on the feversham.ca/officiants website. We look forward to meeting you!
